Movies we’d be watching now if not for the pandemic

2020 was supposed to be a big year for big blockbuster films, from a new James Bond to the next chapter in the epic Wonder Woman saga and then it happened. Productions closed down, film releases were pushed out to later in the year and some films disappeared off the radar. Fortunately, most of the big hitters are still coming out at some point but here is a list of the films we already could’ve seen if not for the big C.


Black Widow

In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller Black Widow, Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the “official” third Ghostbusters movie, continuing the story first told in Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1990). Set in the modern-day, Ghostbusters: Afterlife follows two teenagers and their single mother who move to Summerville, Oklahoma to live on a farm inherited from their late grandfather. When unexplained phenomena plague the town, the children discover their grandfather was one of the Ghostbusters. The children and their science teacher must learn to use their grandfather’s tools in order to save the town.

No Time to Die

The New Mutants

Top Gun: Maverick

Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is a cocky pilot who has prevented progress in positions to skip a grounded role, and hence, we will see him as an instructor after 30 years of service. There he finds himself coaching a group of extraordinary Top Gun graduates. One of them is his friend’s son Bradley Bradshaw aka Rooster. He now faces his deepest anxieties, fighting ghosts of the past, which will boil down to an ultimate assignment.

Morbius

Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Morbius is one of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies and although we won’t be seeing our friendly neighborhood web-slinger in this, it does establish the origin stories of one of Marvel’s most diabolical bad guys.

Free Guy

In the open-world video game Free City, an amalgamation of Grand Theft Auto and Fortnite, Guy is a non-player character (NPC) working as a bank teller. Thanks to a code developed by programmers Milly and Keys inserted into Free City by the publisher Antoine, Guy becomes aware of his world being a video game, and takes steps to make himself the hero, creating a race against time to save the game before the developers can shut it down
