Shaken Not Stirred
A cocktail dedication to Bond, James Bond
The evolution of our favorite spy 007 has happened over a number of decades, but aside from being a total ladies man and enjoying a good vodka martini, the man himself has been sighted indulging in other tasty beverages. So what else does the king of espionage love to babble in? Well, here are three drinks we’re sure will top your corporate ‘mixology’ Top Secret list.
SCOTCH AND SODA
If you’ve read the books you’ll know that the scotch and soda mix is an obvious choice of our hero. Also, if the soda has you feeling a little too soft then just leave it out. Be a man!
2oz (60ml) scotch
Soda to top up
Pour the scotch of your choice into a highball glass, add ice, then top it up with soda and you’re ready to go.
VESPER MARTINI
For those that didn’t know, Bond actually ordered this drink in the books and it is named after the lovely Vesper, yet another stunning Bond girl. The cool thing about this drink is that James himself describes, and in doing so, creates it.
You’ll need to mix together three parts Gordon’s Gin (or a gin of your choice) with one-part vodka and half a measure of Kina Lillet (now just called Lillet).
Strain mixture into a cocktail glass.
Garnish with a long thin piece of lemon peel and enjoy!
AMERICANO
Here’s yet another drink meeting the taste preferences of Mr. Bond himself. With the Americano you can never go wrong and here’s how to make one yourself.
Pour 1oz (30ml) of Campari and 1oz (30ml) of sweet vermouth into an old fashioned glass filled with ice cubes.
Top it up with soda.
Garnish with an orange slice or lemon twist.
