It's a Guy Thing

Got it All

Jessika Gotti is from Bayonne, New Jersey and now lives in Miami, Florida. The model has over 700K followers on Instagram, where you’ll see her Fashion Nova ambassador photos and perfect bikini bod. Jessika has been featured by magazines like Sports Illustrated and Playboy. Now in her debut with FHM, Jessika reveals all about her life as a model, how to catch her attention, how to get the perfect Instagram shot, and advice on owning rental property.

Hometown: I am from Bayonne NJ but I live in Miami now!

Describe yourself in 3 words: I would have to say sexy, playful, and spontaneous.

What’s the best compliment someone can give you? My favorite compliment is when people say my house smells good! (Laughs) I love burning lavender candles all day!

How can a guy catch your attention? I am super shy so I like outgoing guys who can get me talking.

Any advice for other models or brands? How do you get a perfect Insta-worthy shot? Hahaha, I take 50 pictures to find the perfect one! I find the best photos come when you’re in a good mood! And natural lighting is my absolute favorite!

How did you get into modeling and what do you love about it? Funny story, actually my boyfriend at the time was playing professional baseball in Australia … besides me missing him, I knew he had to be crazy homesick, so for his birthday Me and my friends came up with the great idea to make him a calendar! It was the first time I got in front of a camera! And as a joke, my friend who took the photos submitted them to Playboy and I got emailed back right away! It kind of just took off from there!

How do you prepare for a photoshoot? Shoot days can be really hectic. From picking the perfect bikini to hair and makeup it’s a lot of prep but as long as I have my grilled sandwich before a shoot it will be a happy one.

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I have always wanted to be a singer but my voice is awful (laughs).

You’re known to have an envious bikini bod. How do you stay in shape? Do you follow a strict exercise regime? I can eat a whole pizza myself. I don’t really work out. My mother and grandmother were featured in magazines so I guess I just have the family figure

What is something not many people know about you? I own rental apartment buildings and houses.

What’s it like to own numerous buildings and to be a landlord? What advice do you have for anyone thinking about being a landlord themselves? Well like most things, they’re really scary at first. But you just have to take the next step and trust your foot will find something to land on. Once you build momentum it’s pretty easy. Buy and Hold real estate is a bit of an emotional roller coaster. You feel great being able to offer beautiful homes to new families and sometimes your own friends. But once the rents start coming late, and the repair costs start adding up its very easy to second guess your decisions. So far, it’s absolutely worth it. The best advice I can give is, I know you will be excited to jump to renovations – but don’t. Make some money first. It’s very easy for a $10k renovation budget to become $20k and paint not even be picked out yet.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? This one always gets me. I can never seem to find the words to explain where I want to be or where I see myself. I’ve always been fascinated with people’s answers to this one but it always makes me want to ask “where were you 10 years ago?” I’ve hit a point in life that I truly am “in love with life.” Almost scares me to think of the future in those terms because, how can anything compete with right now. I’ve tried to surround myself with positivity, great vibes, and great people and it has made all the difference. But if I had to say where I see myself 10 years from now, I above all else wish it’s healthy, safe, and helping younger versions of myself reach their goals. It’s beautiful for me to see women feel strong and beautiful in their skin. I hope I can help others like I’ve been helped.

What are 3 things you can’t live without? I definitely couldn’t live without my poodles, good food, and the sun!

What is still on your bucket list? I have always wanted to travel to one of those islands that have the over-the-water bungalows. They look so cool with the glass floors so you can see the water from your bungalow.

Favorite thing to do in your spare time? I love being outdoors and doing fun activities like festivals, carnivals, laser tag. Boat days are probably my favorite though.

Instagram? My Instagram is @jessikagottem. I post something new every day!
