Fleeing from his pursuers, the hero assembles a band of endearing adventurers who believe he is actually The Luminary reborn. The hero and his newfound companions embark on a quest that will take them across continents and over vast oceans as they learn of an ominous threat facing the world.

Shenmue 3

Shenmue is rated by many as the greatest game series of all time, re-inventing what gaming meant back on the Sega Dreamcast. It inspired so many open-world games from Yakuza to GTA, the Shenmue series is criminally underrated. However, Yu Suzuki’s legendary video game series is set to return in 2019. Shenmue 3 resumes the epic storyline of Ryo Hazuki, desperately searching for his father’s killer. This new iteration in the series brings to life an exciting, living-and-breathing world, one filled with thrilling locales to explore, puzzles to solve, and enemies to thwart. Shenmue 3 is a story-driven and revenge-fueled adventure with a cast of incredible characters. Powered by innovative and skill-adaptable Free Battle and Special Skill systems, Shenmue III is the sequel fans have been waiting for.

The Outer Worlds

From the creators of the ever-popular, Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds will feel immediately familiar to anyone who has played a recent Fallout game. A sprawling RPG set in space filled with numerous quests, side characters and choices that truly matter. Lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later than you expected only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter a host of factions all vying for power, who you decide to become will determine the fate of everyone in Halcyon. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.

Pokemon Shield and Sword

The Nintendo Switch has been a runaway success with some truly memorable games and experiences on the little handheld device. However one thing all Nintendo fans have been clamoring for is a brand new Pokemon game and finally, their wishes have come true. Sword and Shield takes place in the Galar region, a large, narrow expanse of land and one of many regions in the Pokémon world. Shigeru Ohmori described it as a more modern setting. The region itself and its many landmarks are inspired by Great Britain, such as the Houses of Parliament and the Cerne Abbas Giant. The region begins with sprawling countryside towns featuring cottages and Victorian architecture. Many of the region’s towns and cities feature Pokémon Gyms stylized like football stadiums. Encompassing a large portion of the region is the Wild Area, an open world area with numerous Pokémon. Similar to many previous entries in the Pokémon franchise, the player embarks on a journey to become the strongest trainer in the Galar Region. Starting alongside their neighbor and rival Hop, the player receives one of three Pokémon from the local Professor Magnolia. After receiving a letter of endorsement from Champion Leon, they face off against the Gym Leaders of each town, including Milo, Nessa, Bea, and Allister, and aim to take part in the Champions Cup. Although it will feel very similar to previous entries, having a new Pokemon game on the Switch is a true delight and will eat away every single spare minute you have.

Disco Elysium

A groundbreaking open-world role-playing game, Disco Elysium is a truly wonderful experience. You’re a detective with a very unique skill system at your disposal and a whole city block to carve your path across. Unlike other RPG games this game is set in a modern world devoid of any of the fantasy archetypes that generally make up these kinds of games. The world is alive with real people that go about their business and react accordingly to your actions, be that noble or plain sadistic. Featuring a revolutionary dialogue system that allows you to manipulate, help or break fellow NPC’s in the world. Disco Elysium truly gives the players a sense of freedom to do what they want, when they want. Every single choice will have a massive outcome in the game. Intimidate, sweet talk, resort to violence or sing karaoke, it’s up to you how you want to shape your character and the world around him
