Can you share the story behind the founding of your agency and what inspired you to pursue this path in the modeling industry? My journey into the modeling world wasn’t exactly planned. I started in the corporate grind, interning in downtown Chicago during college and continuing after graduation. But fate had other ideas while waiting out a rain delay at a White Sox game, I ended up in a bar, where an agent spotted me. That unexpected encounter led to my first photo shoot at 21, and before I knew it, I was hooked, balancing a 9-to-5 job by day and diving into photoshoots and event gigs by night. In 2011, I made a bold move to Las Vegas, fully immersing myself in the industry. It wasn’t long before I saw the darker side of modeling. I witnessed agencies neglecting their models, delaying payments, and even allowing exploitative practices to slide. I realized that so many talented, driven women just needed a safe, supportive space to grow. That’s when TLC Models was born. One day, I simply told myself, ‘I’m starting my own agency.’ Armed with a Cum Laude business degree and a clear vision, I set out to build something from scratch. TLC stands for Tiffanie Lynn Craddock, but it’s also about providing true TLC—care, respect, and empowerment for every woman who joins our team. This agency is a space where models can grow, thrive, and work with the assurance that their well-being is always a priority.

What were some of the initial challenges you faced when growing your agency, and how did you overcome them? Starting TLC Models came with its fair share of challenges trust me, it wasn’t all glitz and glamour. One of the toughest things I faced early on was trying to establish a solid reputation in Las Vegas, which is filled with agencies. When you’re competing in a non-exclusive market, models can be signed with multiple agencies, and clients often shop around for the best deal. So, it wasn’t just about having the most beautiful faces; I had to find a way to make TLC stand out. That meant focusing on more than just looks—I had to offer something different: reliability, professionalism, and top-notch service. Building the business from scratch was a crash course in everything—finances, marketing, recruiting talent, you name it. There were days when it felt like I was juggling a million things at once, but I stayed focused, adapted as needed, and kept pushing forward. Then, of course, there was the human element. Models come with their own personalities, challenges, and expectations, and managing those relationships while also keeping clients happy was a balancing act. Some clients would even try to cut out the agency and hire models directly to save money. Over time, I had to make tough calls if a model or client didn’t respect the value of the agency, they were out. Those hard decisions ended up creating a stronger, more loyal team in the long run. And the models who stayed with us knew they could count on TLC for real opportunities and support.

With your agency expanding to 3,500 people in several cities, what specific strategies have you employed to manage such a large and diverse workforce? Managing a team of 3,500 models spread across the U.S. is no small feat, and it’s taken some serious planning to keep everything running smoothly. Our focus is on major cities like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York City, and Miami places where there’s a high demand for quality talent. By concentrating our efforts there, we’re able to keep a steady flow of work, which means our models stay busy and, most importantly, happy. To manage operations on this scale, we’ve built a solid infrastructure with agents and event managers in each city who keep the wheels turning. Since we specialize in large-scale events, it’s crucial to have managers on-site who can oversee staff and handle any issues on the spot. We also appoint lead models at events, who act as liaisons between the models and clients. This gives clients direct access to someone for quick feedback and support, which keeps communication smooth and ensures that every event runs like clockwork. It’s a team effort from top to bottom. Everyone has a role to play, and when all those moving parts come together, it’s amazing to see just how seamless and professional the whole operation can be.

How do you define strategic leadership, and how has it played a role in your agency’s success? I’ve learned through experience what it truly means to be a leader and when leadership is needed. For me, strategic leadership is about knowing how to adapt based on the situation—whether it’s guiding the models or managing client relationships. And trust me, the approach for each is very different. When it comes to the models, leadership requires a firm but empathetic approach. I always make it a point to put myself in the shoes of the models for each job I’m asking them to do. If I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing the job myself, I won’t ask someone else to. In those cases, I’ll turn down the client’s request. On the job, it’s crucial to pay attention to the environment the models are working in and their feedback. Before taking sides in any model-client issue, you need to assess whether the concerns are reasonable and make fair decisions based on that. With clients, leadership is about listening carefully to their vision and gathering all the details so we can deliver exactly what they want. It’s important not to over-promise and under-deliver. I’m always clear about what’s realistic and what’s possible. By setting the right expectations upfront, we can ensure smoother events and better relationships. Staying calm under pressure is key, especially when a client is upset. Ultimately, for both clients and talent, listening and being open to feedback is the best way to lead. Making changes based on what you hear keeps the business growing and everyone happier.

In a competitive market, what unique selling propositions did you focus on to position your agency as the preferred choice for large-scale and luxury events? Over the past 11 years, I’ve had the privilege of building a powerhouse of talent, and now, both my team and our models speak for themselves. We’ve positioned TLC Models as the go-to agency for large-scale and luxury events, not by being the cheapest option, but by offering an unparalleled level of service and professionalism. Depending on the client’s needs, we offer customized packages that can include everything from talent interviews, on-site managers and supervisors, translators, bar and food staff, wardrobe coordination, and, of course, top-tier talent. What really sets us apart is our commitment to relationship building. I’m personally involved in our events, and we work closely with clients to ensure everything runs smoothly. Our managers are known for going above and beyond whether it’s model-related or something outside their job scope entirely. We approach every event as a team, ready to support one another and the client in whatever way necessary. This collaborative, hands-on approach has built trust with our clients and has become one of our key differentiators in the market.

Can you discuss a specific project or event that exemplifies your agency’s competitive edge in the industry? One event that really shows off TLC Models’ competitive edge is the Formula 1 Grand Prix in the United States. We’ve had the privilege of staffing F1 events in Las Vegas, Miami, and Austin, where we provide anywhere from 70 to over 100 models along with full management and supervisory teams. As VIP hostesses, our models are the first impression for high-profile guests, and the client expects nothing short of absolute professionalism and class, even across grueling 12+ hour shifts for three to four consecutive days. These contracts are no walk-in-the-park, but they’re incredibly rewarding when pulled off successfully. Our managers are pros at keeping everything running smoothly, handling everything from managing models’ schedules and breaks to dealing with wardrobe malfunctions or unexpected issues on the fly. Meanwhile, our models do an incredible job maintaining a warm, polished demeanor guiding guests, answering questions, assisting with seating, and always creating a welcoming atmosphere, no matter how long the day has been. There’s no better feeling than hearing from the client afterward that the event was a success. It’s a testament to the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of every team member, and moments like that remind me why we do what we do.

Empowerment is a central theme of your agency’s mission. What initiatives or programs do you have in place to support the personal and professional growth of your talent? Empowerment is at the heart of everything we do at TLC Models. One of the best parts of running an agency like this is getting to work with such a diverse, talented group of people from all over. I’m constantly inspired by the individuals we bring on board—watching them build their own brands and unique paths is incredible, and it drives me to make sure they have every chance to shine. At TLC, our models have the chance to work directly with clients and really showcase their own value. While I’m behind the scenes, they’re the ones making a lasting impression. When they excel, they open doors for more bookings, new cities, and bigger events. Some have even landed full-time job offers from clients, which is such a testament to their hard work and professionalism. Empowerment goes beyond just the models. We also invest in our managers, giving them the chance to build new divisions within the company, take on higher-paying client opportunities, and develop their careers. It’s simple: the more they grow with us, the more doors open for them, too. Watching them step into these roles and rise to new heights is incredibly rewarding and a huge part of what makes TLC Models so unique.

How do you ensure that your agency not only provides jobs but also fosters financial independence for aspiring models and talent? At TLC Models, fostering financial independence for our talent is all about teamwork and personal accountability. I provide the opportunities, but since each model works as an independent contractor, it’s up to them to make the most of it. I want every model to thrive, and those who put in the effort, build strong client relationships, and consistently deliver, soon find themselves with more contracts and greater control over their rates and clients. But let’s be real work ethic is key. I’m looking for models who bring passion, commitment, and professionalism. Unfortunately, sometimes newer talent lacks these qualities, and that doesn’t fly with us. Our team doesn’t have room for flakes, divas, or bad attitudes. I work hard to secure the best jobs and rates, and I expect the same energy and dedication in return. Those who bring that commitment are here to stay. Those who don’t? Well, they simply won’t be invited back. It’s as straightforward as that.

How have your international experiences shaped your understanding of the modeling industry and influenced your agency’s growth? Working internationally has been a game-changer for TLC Models. We’ve had the privilege to staff events everywhere from Munich and Zurich to Hong Kong and Costa Rica. Each destination brings new people, unique insights, and invaluable connections that fuel our agency’s growth. The experience of working with diverse clients and models has given TLC Models a reputation for excellence on a global scale. It’s like a ripple effect: with every successful event, we gain exposure to new clients, secure more bookings, and bring on fresh talent. This global reach not only enhances our portfolio but keeps the momentum going driving TLC Models to new heights, one event at a time.

Networking is key in this business. What strategies do you use to create and maintain valuable connections within the industry? Networking is everything in this industry, and for me, it’s all about building and maintaining genuine connections. I believe in always keeping doors open and never burn bridges, because you never know when a past contact might become the key to a future opportunity. I make a point to attend industry events, business networking gatherings, and red carpets where I can connect with potential clients, partners, and talent. Being present and engaged at these events is essential. I want people to know TLC Models is more than just an agency; it’s a network of dependable, professional relationships. Consistency and authenticity are my go-to strategies for staying top-of-mind in this business.

How do you leverage your travels to gain global insights that benefit your agency and its clients? It really is a small world especially in the modeling and event industry. I’ve learned that everyone is connected in some way, and that’s a powerful thing to keep in mind when traveling, whether it’s for business or pleasure. During my travels, I make a point to build relationships wherever I go. I’ve had the chance to stay at incredible resorts and collaborate with them for photoshoots, and we’ve held events at unique venues where I’ve formed lasting connections with event coordinators and business owners. These connections often lead to new opportunities and projects across borders. Being based in Las Vegas, the global hub for events and entertainment, gives us an added advantage. Many of my international contacts are either planning trips to Vegas or already doing business here, making it easy to stay connected and foster partnerships that benefit TLC Models and our clients.

As a leader in the industry, what advice would you give to other women looking to build their own businesses or agencies? My biggest advice to women starting their own businesses or agencies is simple: don’t give up, and stay true to yourself, even when the going gets tough. In the early days, it’s tempting to say yes to everything just to make ends meet, but be mindful of staying within your comfort zone. Don’t compromise your values or get involved in anything that doesn’t align with who you are or what you stand for. Focus on creating something you’re genuinely proud of. Have a clear vision of what you offer, and stick to it. When you try to do too much or please everyone, you risk confusing your clients and diluting your strengths. Specialize, excel at what you’re passionate about, and build your brand around that. Success comes when you stay focused and true to your mission.

Looking forward, what are your aspirations for the future of your agency, and how do you plan to continue empowering the next generation of talent? Looking ahead, my vision is for TLC Models to be the go-to agency for the luxury automotive and sports industries, with a reputation so strong that we’re on every client’s speed dial. We have an incredible team that’s exceptionally skilled at delivering top-notch talent for high-quality events, and we’re ready to expand this on a global scale. Empowering the next generation of talent is a big part of this vision. I want TLC Models to be a place where aspiring models not only find work but grow professionally, build their networks, and develop into the best versions of themselves. Whether it’s in a new city or halfway across the world, we’re here to create unforgettable events and give our talent the tools they need to succeed.
