There’s no denying that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is truly electrifying. He’s seemingly done it all, from playing football, to making a grand entrance on the wrestling scene and appearing in large blockbuster films and featuring on popular television series like “Ballers” and hosting the NBC game show ‘Titan Games.’ Today, Dwayne Johnson is recognized around the world as a talented and hardworking entertainer with a number of endorsement deals and his own line of clothing. Here’s a brief history on how a man from humble beginnings became Forbes highest paid actor for 2019 and a global celebrity of legendary status!

Most of us recall Dwayne Johnson AKA “The Rock” from his professional wrestling days in the WWE were he spent eight years making a name for himself with his unique stage persona, flamboyant charisma and ever-growing popularity. Prior to pursuing an acting career “The Rock” was already a worldwide wrestling sensation. What people may not know is that Dwayne was a talented college football player who once aspired for a professional career in football but it seems wrestling, then acting, would be his true calling.

Johnson secured a contract with then WWF (now WWE) in 1996 winning his first championship tittle in 1998. It’s in the ring where Johnson got his claim to fame winning a long list of titles and making a name for himself – The Rock is regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all-time drawing in long-time fans and new audiences from across the world.

Johnson’s first acting role would come in 2001 when he featured in The Mummy Returns with his first lead role in the 2002 spin-off The Scorpion King. Since then he’s appeared in a long list of films (too many to mention) across genres like action, comedy and animation and had his induction into The Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2017. Johnson is known for increasing audience numbers exponentially with every project he works on becoming a popular success. What works for Johnson is the charismatic yet authentic feel he brings to each of his productions and his versatility across roles.
