This console generation, the PlayStation has been knocking it out of the park when it came to exclusives, from the Norse god pounding God of War to web-slinging through the city as Spider-Man to changing people’s hearts as a thieving high schooler in Persona 5. And yet as this generation is coming to a close, Sony has a few more tricks up its sleeve. Enter the follow up to the seminal PS3 classic The Last of Us. Arguably one of the best games of the previous generation and one of the most moving and well-told stories in gaming history, The Last of Us returns and promises to be even more brutal and heart wrenching.
Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.
Experience the escalating moral conflicts created by Ellie’s relentless pursuit of vengeance. The cycle of violence left in her wake will challenge your notions of right versus wrong, good versus evil, and hero versus villain. Brought to life by the latest iteration of the Naughty Dog engine, the deadly characters and world are more realistic and meticulously detailed than ever before. The character models and movements are incredible to behold and the amount of detail that went into this game is staggering. Once again Naughty Dog has managed to even improve on the incredible looking Uncharted 5 and bring us a game that is as beautiful as it is brutal. Beware though, this is not a feel-good game. The story is heavy and some of the twists and turns are truly heart-wrenching. What it is though is an incredible journey of a young woman seeking revenge all wrapped in an incredible game that will stick with you for years to come.
