This month’s cover star is the gorgeous Californian resident Sunshine Shen. She’s got the looks, the smarts, and most importantly, the heart. She’s driven and passionate about her spiritual journey towards living a purpose-driven life and she’s all about helping others to recognize and realize their full potential.

As Sunshine becomes ever more popular because of her genuine smile and radiant beauty, it’s easy to see that she has a whole lot more substance to offer – making her a truly unique and authentic woman. She’s strong-willed, passionate, and on a life-long spiritual journey that has seen her go from success to greatness.

Sunshine believes in the power of a positive mindset, and how that can create positive change in a person’s life. She won’t let anyone define her and that’s what we love most about her. We join Sunshine for a casual discussion to find out more about her and her journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. Plus, we have to admit, she looks really good in front of the camera too!

Sunshine Shen, your name is incredibly unique, could you tell us about it? My mom actually named me after the ‘Sunshine State’ when I first moved to Florida from China.

Could you tell us a little more about you, where you grew up, and where you currently live now? I grew up along the Sino-Russian border in a city name Haerbin and I currently reside in the beautiful city of Beverly Hills, California.

You describe yourself as a self-realization guru and spiritualist. How did this journey of enlightenment start for you? I came about my journey of self-discovery when I first came across Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret. The philosophies she discussed in her book completely blew my mind and I became quite obsessed with the law of attraction. I found myself trying to figure out all the ways that I can actually apply these laws to my own life, and how it can help not just me, but the millions of people that are currently struggling – not being able to live to their life to its fullest potential simply due to a lack of energetic awareness.

Do you feel that your spiritual path has impacted your modeling career at all, and if so, how? Absolutely, I feel like it actually opened up so many new doors for me. Although I didn’t really intend to incorporate the two areas at first, I was pleasantly surprised at how many people are totally intrigued by what I have to say. So much so that new and exciting opportunities just seem to come flying out from every single direction! I’m so blessed!

How did your modeling career start? To be honest, I never thought I could ever be a model. I just always dreamed of visiting the Playboy Mansion one day; and so I worked 3 part-time jobs while going to school fulltime to pay for my trip to L.A. where I attended my first Playboy Halloween party. There, I was lucky enough to be accepted into Hef’s family circle and eventually I was hand-picked by Hugh himself to become one of his Painted Ladies. From there on, I was published numerous times in print for Playboy before I did my very first cover in May 2018 which opened up a lot of doors in my career thus far.

What’s been your most memorable moment as a model? Although there’s been no lack of unforgettable experiences when it comes to my career, I’d definitely have to say that the most amazing moment would be when I was given the “Playmate” title last year!

Is there a specific person that has made a major impact on your modeling career? Me, myself and I.

What do you like doing when you are not modeling? I love reading and learning about new metaphysical knowledge.

What do you find most attractive in a man? The courage to be genuine and his authentic self.

Biggest turn off? Lies.

What is the most memorable date you have ever been on? It was on a private plane from Maui to Japan for an ultra-exclusive Michelin starred dinner at ‘Aragawa’ then doubling back from Japan towards Bora Bora where we spent the weekend in the overwater bungalows at the Le Meridien.

When do you feel sexiest? I feel the sexiest whenever I’ve submerged myself deeply into my creativity and I forget about the world.

Name 3 things you can’t live without? Time for myself; a sense of novelty; and the space to express my creativity to the fullest.

What is the number one thing you want to do on your bucket list? So far, everything I’ve ever wanted to do I’ve been lucky enough to have done them all. I’ve lived my entire life going to places and doing things that called to my heart the loudest so until the next adventure comes along I guess I never really know what will be next on my list!

So Sunshine, where to from here, do you have any special plans for the future? Building my empire ^_^
